PhD research project
Development of Neurodegeneration/Neuroinflammation in Animal Models and Monitoring by in Vivo Imaging Techniques
In vivo molecular imaging offers the possibility of identifying diagnostic markers of disease and evaluating in vivo the efficacy of new therapies with an increasingly personalized approach. Furthermore, biological modifications identified in animal models by the application of in vivo imaging can be integrated with ex-vivo pathological information obtained by different molecular analysis thus representing a unique example of translational research. The evaluation of regional radiopharmaceutical uptake also allows the reconstruction of molecular connectivity network and thus the identification of node and edge that govern brain function.
The PhD project’ research will generally be focused on:
1) the application of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to the study of the effect of aging on brain on young, adult and old mice and
2) the evaluation of brain effects induced by the exposure to environmental pollution or by peripheral acute inflammation.
