facilities

PhD students in Neuroscience take advantage of various services and resources:

  • Classrooms (at U8, U18, U28 and U38 Buildings, sited in the Monza Campus) equipped with new technologies and collaboration tools.
  • Computer Classrooms (at U8 and U18 Buildings ) with 25, 80 and 27 workstations respectively, available both for class training and for single users.
  • Library of the School of Medicine and Surgery (at U8 Building) sqm. 519, equipped with reading rooms with 107 stations. In addition, the library has computerized workstations to access useful tools in bibliographic research and biomedical databases as well as the assets of the University’s electronic journals. It is open from Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 22:00 and on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 13:45.
  • Possibility of remotely access the library’s online resources through institutional credentials.
  • Wireless access protected by an internal authentication system.
  • Dedicated IT services accessible to PhD students, including supply of software of educational and scientific interest, with the possibility of installing them also on personal PCs

Students have also access to facilities and instrumentations available at the Departments of the University Milano-Bicocca involved in the PhD program and in particular:

Preclinical analysis:

  • Cell cultures rooms, fully equipped to containment level 2 or 3
  • Telemetry
  • Microdialysis
  • In vivo preclinical imaging (7Tesla MRI), access to optical imaging and PET imaging (by agreement)

  • Complete systems for inhalation exposure (nose only or total body) and plethysmography (whole body, head out & double chamber) for studying pulmonary function in conscious, spontaneously breathing laboratory subjects.
  • Omics facility (Transcriptomic including single cell seq analysis, proteomic and metabolomics
  • Microscopy facility, including sample processing and analysis (bright-field. laser confocal and electron microscopes)
  • Neurophysiology Platform including electrophysiological techniques loke current-clamp and voltage-clamp

Clinical studies:

  • Outpatient clinics, Day Hospital (MAC), and inpatient wards in affiliated facilities (> 500 beds)
  • Neurophysiology for adults and developmental age (EEG, video-EEG, NCS/EMG, evoked potentials)
  • Neurosonology
  • Neuropsychology for adults and developmental age
