I graduated in 2001 in industrial biotechnology and obtained a PhD in biomedical technologies in 2007, after starting an experience as a research fellow at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, studying neuroendocrine tumors in animal models. In 2008 I started my career as a researcher at the CNR, first with a fixed-term position and then as a permanent researcher since 2013. The Institute of Bioimaging and Complex Biological Systems (IBSBC) for which I work, carries out activities in the field of medical imaging and in the study of different pathologies through omic sciences. Since 2021 I’m co-responsible for the “Laboratory of preclinical molecular imaging” as the Italian Multi-sited Multi-Modal Molecular Imaging (MMMI) node of “Euro-BioImaging” Research Infrastructure.
SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS
The main research interests of my work are:
– Molecular imaging techniques of small animals, in particular Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Single Photon Computed Emission Tomography (SPECT) e Computed Tomography (CT).
– Preclinical animal models of tumor, neurodegeneration and inflammation. Neurosurgery and cell transplantation.
– Evaluation of pharmacological treatments based on chemicals, peptides and nanovectors;
– Ex vivo (autoradiography) and in vitro (tissue sampling and cellular uptake) nuclear medicine techniques;
– Bioluminescence and fluorescence in vivo imaging;
– Cell culturing and in vitro assays.
SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR PhD PROJECTS
In vivo molecular imaging of animal and cellular models of pathology, with evaluation of new radioligands for diagnostic/theragnostic purpose. Evaluation of new innovative treatments.
